The Gulfstream IV (GIV) is an intercontinental business jet that has just the ideal size. The aircraft offers excellent performance as compared with other intercontinental jets in its class. It is powered by two Rolls-Royce Mk 611-8 engines that produce 13,850 of thrust per each engine. The Rolls-Royce engine is responsible for the decreased noise levels and 15% improved fuel consumption as compared with the GIV’s predecessors.
The Gulfstream IV has a seating capacity that can comfortable accommodate up to 19 passengers. It has a length of 45.1 feet, a width of 7.3 feet, a height of 6.2 feet, and a generous baggage capacity of 169 cubic ft. The aircraft has a cruising speed of 480 knots and a range of 4,847 statute miles. Amenities include a full-sized lavatory with shower and a large galley.
The aircraft also has a six-screen colored EFIS. In the cockpit is a Honeywell SPZ-8000 suite with FMS and dual Honeywell inertial reference systems (laser) and Collins radios. To make easy pilot maneuverability, the Gulfstream IV uses a Dowty fail-passive steer-by-wire system and the Goodyear Aerospace brake-by-wire system. Its takeoff weight is 74,300 pounds.
The GIV, with its extra space and engine upgrades, also comes in a single pilot modification.
