The Bombardier Global 6000, otherwise known as the Global Express XRS, is a modified variant of the company’s highly successful Global Express heavy business jet.
Although the Global Express XRS is powered by the same Rolls-Royce Deutschland BR10A2 turbofans used by its immediate predecessor, its range is extended up to 6,100 nautical miles which means it can fly from Los Angeles to London or Tokyo non-stop. The usual distances that can be flown by the Global Express are also within the Express XRS’ capability, but corporate travelers enjoy the added benefit of reduced flying time because of the newer aircraft’s higher cruising speed (0.85 Mach) and altitude (45,000 feet). Despite the aircraft’s high-speed performance, it remains easy to fly. Takeoffs and landings can be done at lower speeds—and thus become more manageable and smoother—thanks to the aircraft’s leading edge aluminum slats.
The Global Express XRS’ 2,140-cubic-foot main cabin can seat up to 17 passengers in various configurations, though often with club seats and conference tables to make in-flight business meetings more convenient. The cabin can be divided into three areas, each with its own lighting and temperature controls. The forward section includes a full-size galley and a lavatory. Lastly, the baggage compartment has a volume of 195 cubic feet and can accommodate 455 kilograms of cargo.
